Programs for Young Adults

 SPECIALIZED ENGLISH PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS

We offer specialized English instruction for professionals, diplomats, governmental agencies, non-profit organizations and businesses in general.

Specialized English means tailor designed programs to respond to your specific needs.

Through the Entrena program you can master English proficiency in at least 15 months.

Through an initial comprehensive evaluation based on ACTFL models, you will be placed in one of the 9 levels described above. Once you’ve reached the advanced high level, you are required to take 2 continued education courses in order to graduate from our language clinic.

Each level consists of 120 hours of class hours plus fieldwork experience. Maximum class size is of 10 students per teacher in a comfortable training room.

Entrena can also provide one on one tutorials and professional courses on site at your facility.  

ENGLISH FOR LAWYERS
English for lawyers is intended for practicing lawyers and law students who wish to improve their knowledge of legal English and  ability to communicate effectively.  
It is increasingly necessary that lawyers know how to communicate in English in our globalized world. This  includes giving clear advice to your clients, negotiating, participating in meetings, drafting contracts, writing letters and other documents.

ENGLISH FOR TEACHERS
The English for teachers course is intended for practicing teachers and education students who wish to develop skills in order to achieve academic success in the classroom. In this changing world teachers need to recognize the importance of bilingualism. You will learn to develop curricula,  write  syllabus,  interpret evaluations, create  reports,  maintain journals and master advanced skills in grammar, pronunciation, and punctuation.

ENGLISH FOR HOTEL PERSONNEL
This course is designed for human resources that interact constantly with the tourist sector. Tourism is one of the main activities in the Dominican Republic and it is important to maintain the quality of an universal language such as English. From bartenders to general managers, everybody is invited to attend this course in which you will develop skills in order to communicate effectively, develop non-verbal communication skills, interpret and translate, give directions, receive instructions and explain your field of work.

PUBLIC SPEAKING
If you need to improve your ability to address an audience in English, Entrena can provide the preparation and coaching skills necessary to make your speech a smashing success. The course includes abilities in :  

Appropiate Introduction	Empathizing with your Audience
Non-Verbal Posture	Story Telling and Personal Testimony
Correct Selecction and Use of Vocabulary	Projecting your Unique Strengths

MAKING PRESENTATIONS
We can give you presentation techniques that make you feel comfortable and be yourself when giving presentations and demonstrations.

We offer group coaching or personalized instructions for executives and leaders who strive for excellence in their communication and presentation style. Content includes:    

Controlling Nervous Tension	Communicating your Unique Message or Vision
Developing a Powerful Presence	Telling Stories that Illustrate and Entertain
Preparation and Use of Material	Voice Resonance, Pitch and Projection

THE POWER OF THE WRITTEN WORD
Basic expository writing course for professionals who need to improve their written communication skills. The ultimate purpose of this course is to show the individual how to prepare comprehensive reading materials that are grammatically correct, have the right sentence structure, and demonstrate  appropriate use of the English language. Content includes:    

Preparation and Outline	Drafting Paragraphs
Editing your Work	Proof Reading
Writing for a Critical Audience	Introduction to Non Fiction Writing
Introduction to Creative Writing	The Writing Cloud

 

SPECIALIZED ENGLISH COURSES FOR YOUNG ADULTS

An adapted version of the Entrena program suited specifically for the needs of young adults. After a comprehensive initial ACTFL evaluation students will be placed in one of the following levels:    

Beginners	Conversation
Intermediate	Independent Study
Advanced

Each level consists of 120 hours of class hours plus field experience. Maximum class size is 10 students per teacher.

2.      Appropiate Cultural Communication Skills in English

3.      Expository Writing

4.      TOFEL Preparation
